Kevin Walters is confident that he can help Brisbane rediscover his confidence after raising his hand to help under attack coach Anthony Seibold.
The ex-Broncos captain, who won the Premier League, said it was difficult to see how his former NRL club slipped on five consecutive losses, but claimed he could help raise players’ spirits if he did would be welcomed back into Red Hill.
Walters was again hired as a coach in Queensland on Sunday until the end of 2021, which seemed to end speculation that the former Broncos playmaker could replace Seibold if the board patted him on the shoulder.

But Walters, who was a Broncos assistant under Wayne Bennett in 2018, said he was happy to help Seibold in her need.
“If you get in touch and need help, I’m happy to help,” he told Sky Sports Radio.
“I feel more than anyone else for the players.
“I see frustration in the play group. I see them playing as individuals, not as a team.
“As a former player, nobody likes it when this happens to a club, especially one you’ve been in contact with for a long time.”
When asked what he could offer, Walters said: “Just pick up the mood of the group, create a little unity.
“You have enough talent in this group to sit much higher on the table.
“You have to believe in yourself, work hard and move it in the right direction.”
Seibold, who has been in a five-season contract for a year and a half, seems to need all the help he can get ahead of Brisbane’s round of 16 against Warriors in Gosford on Saturday.
While Brisbane’s chairman, Karl Morris, said on Sunday that they are on the road with Seibold in the long run, the competitive mentor is desperate for a win after his team hit a new low in the last round.
Brisbane was booed by his own fans at half-time before they were upset by NRL fighters Gold Coast between 30 and 12.

They are the poorest disciplined team in the competition (they collect 7.7 penalties per game), have the worst score in their club history and most players – eight – have been charged by an NRL club this year . Hinterrower Joe Ofahengaue is the latest to face a three-game ban on shoulder strain.
Their stance was also questioned when some players saw laughing and five-time Titan opponents on the field after the 30-12 shock.
“You have to be an athlete and shake hands with them, but get out of the field and fix your mess if you lose,” Walters said of the Broncos’ behavior.
Issac Luke apologized for his cheerful manner after playing on social media. He was one of the Broncos players who were beaten up by Brisbane greats for their behavior, but the veteran rake was most hurt by Fox Sports’ criticism from former South Sydney teammate Sam Burgess.
“The actions that took place after yesterday’s game were bad on my behalf. I accept that,” he said on Twitter.
“I am also sorry for the members and fans and the rugby league community for showing it.
“I wouldn’t normally react … but if one of my good friends (Burgess) … said something, it affects me personally … you have my number brother.”
