New York Yankees News: Yankees visit Nationals on opening day

NY Post | Joel Sherman and Andrew Marchand: According to Sherman and Marchand sources, the New York Yankees will visit the Washington Nationals in the capital on July 23 to host an exciting showdown on the opening day. While the league has not yet made it official – and has not released an official schedule for at least another week – the bombers and current world champions are scheduled for prime time on this day, which turns out to be pitching duel for eternity: Gerrit Cole against Max Scherzer.

NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: The new extra-inning rule, according to which teams have a runner on the second base to start each additional inning, will likely benefit the Yankees, as the club in Tyler Wade has a sneaky, lightning-fast runner. The versatile infielder / outfielder averaged 29.1 feet per second on the bases last year to lead the Yankees. He could score a goal, move to third place with a deep fly ball, or even steal a base if needed. “It’s one of the most exciting feelings when everyone knows you’re walking and stealing. I feel very well. I love that. That stuff makes me angry, ”he said.

MLB.com | Mark Feinsand: Today is the first appointment for MLB teams with a view to the 2020 season. The clubs have to submit their 60-man player pool or the group that can play for them during the year by 4 p.m. ET. Are we going to see any surprises outside of the usual 40-man roster suspects?
