Marina Granovskaia delivered a £ 70 million transfer to Kai Havertz as Chelsea FA Cup semi-final

Here is your Chelsea morning summary for Monday 29 June.

Increase in the transfer of Kai Havertz

Chelsea’s hopes of landing Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz this summer have been significantly increased since the end of the Bundesliga campaign.

Bayer Leverkusen completed work for the 2019/20 Bundesliga season with a 1-0 home win over Mainz on Saturday, but that wasn’t enough to secure Champions League football for the coming season, which means he could do much to decide Havertz’s decision on his future this summer.

Not only that, however, but Leverkusen’s inability to qualify for the European elite club competition means they could be willing to download it for £ 70 million in the summer, compared to the £ 90 million they appreciate it for.

This could be seen as a major step forward in Chelsea’s hopes of landing the attacking midfielder, as the Blues are eager to spend big money on other areas of the team, which means that Havertz’s landing for a cheaper fare could increase the Blues’ hopes of closing a deal for the 21-year-old.

Player ratings against Leicester City

While the Blues have taken over Leicester City in the last few months of the game to finish third in the Premier League this season, Frank Lampard’s team also sent the Foxes in charge on Sunday afternoon, eliminating them from the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory in the King Power Stadium.

After a grim first half, the Blues stepped up after the break, with Lampard making a half-time triple substitution.

Among those who entered the fray ahead of the second 45 were Ross Barkley and the former Everton man proved to be the winner of the game, scoring the only goal of the game, which ensured that the Blues established a semifinal with Manchester United next month at Wembley.

As Barkley shone and made a difference, how did the rest of the team go?

After the full-time whistle at King Power Stadium, the head of Blues Lampard faced the media to check on his team’s performance.

While he was happy with his team in second 45, he blew their first half, insisting that “they hadn’t played so badly” all season.

Lampard explained: “I don’t think we’ve played that bad this season for 45 minutes. We’ve played much better and we’ve lost games.

“When it looks like I’m criticizing, I’m actually sure that’s not the norm for us. It seemed to me that it had to be addressed and I will give players some leeway due to the situation, these are tight turnarounds and sometimes it is relatively understandable.

“I wasn’t happy, we weren’t happy. The players wanted to win the game and we knew we needed more.

“We were lucky not to lose halfway through and they delivered.”
