European Gymnastics Championships in Rimini: Helen Kevric narrowly missed out on a medal – trio convinced

Helen Kevric narrowly missed out on a medal at the European Gymnastics Championships. The 16-year-old European Championship debutant came fourth on the uneven bars on Saturday in Rimini, Italy.

The Stuttgart woman was only 0.034 points behind Briton Georgia-Mae Fenton in third place. The Italian Alice D’Amato became European champion with 14.600 points ahead of her compatriot Elisa Iorio (14.366) and Fenton (13.900). Kevric received 13.866 points for her exercise.

Gotthardt and Schönmaier also impress in Rimini

Karina Schönmaier from Chemnitz and Marlene Gotthardt from Stuttgart had previously impressed in the jumping final. The 18-year-old Schönmaier received an average score of 13.466 points for her two jumps and thus took fifth place.

Gotthardt, still 15 years old, scored 13.166 points and came seventh. Coline Devillard from France won the title with 13.866 points ahead of Bulgaria’s Valentina Georgiewa (13.799) and her compatriot Ming van Eijken (13.699).

Eli Seitz and Pauline Schäfer-Betz are missing

The young trio will compete together in the team final on Sunday (from 3:30 p.m. in the live stream on sportschau.de).

Well-known German gymnasts such as the former balance beam world champion Pauline Schäfer-Betz and the former European uneven bars champion Elisabeth Seitz are not there this time. Schäfer-Betz has already secured her individual ticket for the Olympic Games, as has Sarah Voss. Seitz can still hope to take part after her return after tearing her Achilles tendon last year.
