Manchester United have registered their interest in signing Arsenal misfit Matteo Guendouzi, according to reports in France.

The midfielder’s future at the Emirates is now in doubt after boss Mikel Arteta removed him from the squad for their trip to Southampton due to ‘internal issues’.

And with Guendouzi now open to leaving the club, United are keen to swoop in and take the Frenchman off Arsenal’s hands, according to L’Equipe.

This week, Sportsmail revealed that Arteta was open to selling the Frenchman after he was caught grabbing Brighton striker Neal Maupay by the neck during Saturday’s defeat at the Amex Stadium.

Arteta has concerns about the 21-year-old’s attitude after discovering him doing ‘silly dances’ while watching training footage earlier in the season.

Sportsmail also revealed how Guendouzi spent the Brighton game making disparaging remarks towards opponents, including tasteless taunts about money.

However, this doesn’t appear to have put off the likes of United from signing him, with PSG, Barcelona and Inter Milan also interested in the France international.

L’Equipe are also reporting that Guendouzi views the ongoing situation at the Emirates as a ‘regression’ and that he would prefer to like to progress elsewhere in a bid to improve his chances of making the France team for Euro 2020 – which is now taking place next summer.

Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the France Under 21 star, who still has two years remaining on his contract.

When asked why he didn’t include Guendouzi at St Mary’s on Thursday night, Arteta said: ‘Squad management. Whatever internal issue we have, we deal with it privately.’

The Gunners boss also dropped the midfielder from his squad for a game against Newcastle earlier this season due to concerns over his attitude.
