Man calls in video “White Power”: Trump spreads a Twitter post with a racist slogan – politics

US President Donald Trump has shared a video on Twitter in which one of his followers uses a slogan of white racists. The recording posted by Trump on Sunday showed one of his supporters in Florida, who repeatedly calls out “White Power” when he meets opponents of the president, stretching his fist in the air. After violent criticism on social networks, Trump deleted his tweet again.

For more than three hours, the video was on Trump’s Twitter account, with the President’s comment: “Thanks to the super-villagers”. The “Villages” are a community in northern Florida for over 55-year-olds, in which around 115,000 people live.

The White House also commented on the criticism of the video: “President Trump is a big fan of the ‘Villages’,” spokesman Judd Deere said. Trump did not hear the message in the video. “What he saw was the incredible enthusiasm of his followers,” Deere said. The slogan “White Power” is used in the neo-Nazi scene.

Trump is repeatedly accused of fueling tensions between different sections of the population in the United States.

Even during the nationwide mass protests against racism and police violence after the death of African American George Floyd in late May, the president continued to fuel the unrest. (AFP)
