Tanner Boser rejects idea in the light heavyweight division

Canada’s Tanner Boser performed impressively at UFC on ESPN 12. A knockout from former PFL heavyweight champion Philipe Lines in the opening round of his preliminary card fight.

The thundering knockout will undoubtedly take Boser (18-6-1) a step forward. Or maybe the fight he called for with Maurice Greene, which also won an important victory on Saturday’s card in Las Vegas.

However, Boser’s performance should not decrease as it was. Or at least not when it happened. Originally intended for the main card of the event, about an hour before the show, he was told that he would fight on the preliminary rounds.

“You changed that about me like an hour before I fought,” he said after the fight against media like Cageside Press. Not that it affected him too much. “I mean, usually probably, but I’m a dog, man. I work perfectly under all circumstances. I am not specialized. I can fight anyone anywhere, anytime. I mean it that way. Although it’s impractical and annoying, it didn’t affect me at all. “

During Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 12, there was a suggestion that Boser could fall on the light heavyweight division. Boser is not the biggest heavyweight and weighed 235 pounds for the fight. It is an idea that Boser, however, immediately dismissed and did not recognize the logic of the division change while he was winning.

“Yes, great. Yes, everyone thinks. Why don’t you just lose 30 pounds? No, why? I just won, I should go light heavyweight because I just kicked my ass?” He exclaimed. “[That] makes no sense. “

Later, Boser would go into the recent trend that heavyweights are becoming a little lighter.

“It’s such a big weight class, all over 205 to 265. Some guys are giants. Some people have to lose weight and that’s the way it is. It’s just the way they are. Some people are somewhere in the middle and don’t feel like killing themselves to get 205, ”he said. “Everyone jumps so fast on a man who is 30 pounds over a weight class. They go to 205 and then the next day they turn around and say ‘Oh! Combat Security I don’t want guys to save too much weight. What about your health? ‘ Make a decision. I’m happy here, you know? “
