Below we give each player a score out of 10, since the only requirement to include in these rankings is to make five or more appearances in the Premier League during the 2019-20 season, so far.

Goalkeepers

Alisson – 9: Simply put, when he was injured, Liverpool missed him a lot. A calming influence. No real mistakes this season. Probably the best goalkeeper in the world?

Adrian – 7: He did a pretty solid job after playing much more than he thought would follow his summer arrival from West Ham. Some mistakes that didn’t cost them in the Premier League but didn’t cover themselves with glory in the Champions League when they crashed against Atletico Madrid.

defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 10: Yes, I’m not sure there has been a better season since a right back in the history of the Premier League. He has three goals and 12 assists and is a constant threat on his right side. What a season from the local boy.

Joe Gomez – 8: After a slow start to the season, he arrived when Matip was injured and remained the first choice alongside Van Dijk. A few moments of hesitation here and there

Virgil van Dijk – 10: perfect. Simply perfect. Defensively solid. A boss. Excellent on the ball. Key objectives scored. You cannot ask Virgil van Dijk for anything more and if the Ballon d’Or vote was today, he would win it.

Andrew Robertson – 9: Like Alexander-Arnold, a constant threat from the full back. He has eight assists in his personal duel with TAA for the most assists and his crosses in big games have always been accurate. Great character on and off the pitch and the Scotsman never stops running.

Joel Matip – 7: he started the season ahead of Gomez but was then injured and was unable to rejoin the team. A bit unfortunate, but the best third-choice center returns to the Premier League. Liverpool never disappoints.

Dejan Lovren – 6: Eh, we all know he can play really well. We all know he also has bad games in him. Lovren was inconsistent during his time in Liverpool, but he won the Champions League and the Premier League. The self-taught upper center back in the world will see it as a necessary reward for its shows.

Jordan Henderson – 10: Perfection from the captain. This season he has taken his game to a new level. The effort and the guide have always been there, but with an extra quality on the ball, engaging with great goals in the close victories against Tottenham and Wolves and in general bringing the team to glory. Henderson has had many critics, but has closed them all this season and his place in Liverpool’s pantheon of greats is assured as he raised the Champions League and Premier League as a skipper. Well done that man.

James Milner – 8: He never gives anything less than 100 percent and has scored great penalties in key moments. Milner fought a bit for injuries, but his influence in the locker room was crucial and, on the left, in the central midfield or anywhere else where he did a job. Milner has helped young people to join the team and it looks like he will be a coach in the future.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 9: unknown hero. The Dutch midfielder never stops smiling and works so hard. Wijnaldum covers so much ground and is the perfect number six. Next to Henderson and Fabinho, the balance in their midfield was really good. Now, will you sign a new deal?

Fabinho – 8: He was hit hard by injuries during the season, but the Brazilian was sublime when he played. Some surprising goals against Man City and Crystal Palace, but it’s his defensive shows that catch the eye. He positions himself as the third central defender when TAA and Robertson push forward and is a key gear in this defensive unit.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7: A little rusty to begin with as he reacted to the injuries but the Ox was relentless as the season went on. Still not quite at his pre-injury levels, but a great option in multiple midfield areas for Liverpool.

Naby Keita – 7: Injuries have hit Keita hard but when he is on the pitch, his quality is undoubted. If ‘Naby lad’ can stay in shape, he will be like a new player next season.

Takumi Minamino – 6: He has done well since his arrival in Salzburg since January and has been used mainly from the bench. Intrigued to see how it develops.

Adam Lallana – 6: Injuries have hit him again but his influence off the pitch has been superb. Great away goal for Man United to score a late draw at the start of the season and will leave Liverpool this summer.

Mohamed Salah – 8: he scored 17 goals but it is fair to say that he has been a little inconsistent this season, especially to begin with. Salah is Salah, however, and she never stops running and is always on.

Roberto Firmino – 9: This season he got the merit he deserves for his game, the pace of work and creativity. It goes deep to create space for Mane and Salah and his scandalous films and finishes are praised all over the world. Bobby Firmino is a cult hero in Anfield.

Sadio Mane – 10: Near perfection from Mane. It was on fire at the start of the season and although it has cooled down a bit in terms of goals scored, it is the key to everything that’s fantastic in this Liverpool attack. Right up there with VVD, Henderson and Kevin de Bruyne, ahead of the nominees as the season’s Premier League players.

Divock Origi – 7: leaves the bench several times to keep time high. Origi is happy to be the fourth choice forward and to contribute when he can and play in cup competitions.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 6: The injuries hit Shaq hard once again, but there is no doubt that he is a quality player with 10-15 starts per season. The arrival of Minamino could mean that Shaqiri will leave this summer.
