Manchester City has simply qualified for the semi-finals of the FA Cup. It simply won 0-2 against Newcastle United. Kevin De Bruyne gave himself a nice birthday present with the opening goal. On top of that, it was also the hundredth goal of his career. In the semi-finals, the team meets De Bruyne Arsenal, who eliminated Sheffield United in the previous round.

From the first whistle we got the expected game image. Manchester City let no grass grow and immediately attacked. At Newcastle it was all hands on deck. After 26 minutes, this resulted in a striking statistic: City had already played the ball around 188 times. Newcastle had to make do with fifteen passes.

That provided some solid opportunities for the Citizens, but scoring failed. A little later it was like that. Gabriel Jesus was knocked to the ground after a good cross from Kyle Walker. Referee Mason had no doubts and put the ball on the spot. Kevin De Bruyne did what he had to do and kicked in the ball flawlessly. 0-1 was also immediately the halftime.

After the break it went better at Newcastle, especially because things were a little less sharp at City. After 65 minutes, City was released with a shock when Dwight Gayle kicked in from the small rectangle. And as is so often the case in football, Newcastle immediately got the lid on the nose, because barely five minutes later Raheem Sterling doubled the score after a great action. That goal was the signal for Guardiola to pull De Bruyne to the side, because important weeks are coming for City.
