Inzaghi: ‘Lazio approaches the main goal’

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi said the Biancocelesti were “close to” our “main goal” shortly before tomorrow’s game against Turin.

The Aquile recovered on Saturday with a 2-1 win against Fiorentina, but is four points behind leaders Juventus in the first game after the break due to the 2-3 loss to Atalanta.

But Inzaghi looks at the big picture and insists that his team approach the goal they set before the start of the season.

“The guys showed the desire and commitment to stay here. Sunday’s victory brings us very close to our main goal,” he said at a press conference.

“Our goal was the Champions League, which we have missed for a long time.”

Lazio are preparing for the third game in seven days when they travel to Turin and have had only two days to recover between the first three games after the pandemic.

“We hope to regain our physical and mental energy,” added the trainer. “We have little time to relax, that applies to us and the rest of the squads.

“We showed sacrificial spirit against Fiorentina. We hope to soon be able to count on other players who fail and allow me to spin more.

“We know our way, four years ago we tried to improve year after year. We won trophies. The goal is to reach the Champions League, we are close. If we achieve this goal, we will think about the rest. “

Inzaghi continued to be on the list of difficult games as he updated his players and praised Danilo Cataldi for his commitment to the cause.

“We will play 48 hours after playing the viola, Cataldi will come with us, he is generous, he wants to be there but is not ready to play.

“We’ll see if he can be involved in any way. We will evaluate [Joaquin] Correa, he moved better. We also have to study the conditions of [Felipe] Caicedo and [Ciro] Immovable.

“We hope to recover the others for Milan.”
