Gustavo Hamer is expected to arrive before Coventry City Medical today

Gustavo Hamer is expected to leave Holland for England today as Coventry City comes a step closer to his 1.5 million euro arrival.

The Dutch-Brazilian midfielder is charged as a direct replacement for the young player of the season, Liam Walsh, who has now returned to Bristol City.

CoventryLive believes the deal has been agreed between the two clubs and that personal conditions are nearing completion, with only medical status preventing a deal that has been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sky Blues are keen to make sure that Hamer sees a doctor before putting his move on paper. This doctor has been pushed back several times due to the government’s strict international travel rules as part of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hamer has to go through a 14-day isolation phase before he can meet with the city’s medical staff. However, the club hopes that a negative test will allow them to close the deal as soon as possible.

A week ago, Hamer was a remarkable absentee at PEC Zwolle’s first training session of the new season, and is said to have said goodbye to his teammates earlier this month when he celebrated his 23rd birthday.

Sources close to his club know that he will start his trip to the West Midlands today, with his medical kit to follow as soon as possible.

Hamer could be City’s first summer acquisition if his move is completed in the coming days.

The club remains keen to land Aston Villa’s youngster, Callum O’Hare, who will leave Coventry’s Premier League rivals on June 30. In recent years, however, everyone has talked about his current situation.

French full-back Julien Dacosta is also a real target, but defender Samuel Yohou, who will be released by FC Paris tomorrow, is no longer on the club’s radar.
