Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala”, leader of Zamalek, revealed the reason for his team’s position regarding the non-resumption of the Egyptian League championship, unlike the African Champions League.
“The African Championship is completely different from the league because there are only two matches left,” said Shikabala.
“If the players are gathered in a specific place, like a camp for two weeks, we will bear that decision,” he added in his remarks on Zamalek.
“But we will not be able to stay in a specific place, as a camp for months, for 17-18 league games. It is completely different.”
Shikabala spoke about the announcement that Mohamed Awad, the goalkeeper, had been infected with Corona virus.
Shikabala pointed out, “Awwad announced that he suffered from corona, not because of a footballing cause, but rather because he had mixed with many people. This is his duty to beware of being mixed with them.”
He continued his speech by saying: “I thank Awad for his courage, and it is a shame that the matter reached the point of questioning the disease.”
Shikabala stressed the position of Zamalek players not to resume the league competition, He said: “Zamalek players feel very afraid, and we appeal to the officials to understand our position.”
Awad concluded, “He mixed with many players, whether in Zamalek or non-Zamalek.”
