Toni Kroos: The football star’s incredible career in pictures

Toni Kroos is calling it quits: The 2014 world champion and five-time Champions League winner is ending his successful career after the European Football Championship this summer. The 34-year-old from Real Madrid announced his decision on Tuesday in his podcast “Einfach mal Luppen” and on social media. “It’s not that easy to say, but it’s been made,” said Kroos in the show, which he hosts together with his brother Felix. “And now I can understand the feeling of being very happy on the one hand and very sad on the other.” The leader of national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s selection will play his last international matches at the European Championship; so far, the midfield strategist has made 108 appearances in the DFB jersey. Kroos won three German championship titles and the cup three times with FC Bayern. With Real Madrid, he won four championships and the cup once.
