Victor Osimhen has won the Marc-Vivien Foé prize. The Nigerian attacker from Lille made the good weather at Sporting Charleroi in the 2018-2019 season.
21-year-old Victor Osimhen (Lille) won the best African player for the Algerian Islam Slimani (Monaco) and the Moroccan Younes Albelhamid (Reims). Ex-Ghent player Moses Simon (now Nantes) finished 11th.
Osimhen had an excellent Ligue 1 debut season with 13 goals and 4 assists in 27 games. The year before, he hit 20 times in 36 matches at Charleroi.
Osimhen’s name is now heard loudly at various European top clubs. A top transfer next summer is certainly possible.
The Marc-Vivien Foé Prize was created in 2009. The honors list counts some big names with Gervinho, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe. Cameroonian midfielder Marc-Vivien Foé died on the field in 2003 during the Confederations Cup from the consequences of heart disease.
