“European Champion Leeds United” – Nathan Jones supports Elland Road’s 1975 claim

“We are the Champions, Champions of Europe,” is Leeds United’s vocals, and Nathan Jones, Luton Town’s chief, is there.

Because of the way they lost to Bayern Munich in the European Cup final in 1975, supporters of the whites who sing the song at home and abroad can be heard regularly.

Referee Michel Kitabdjian’s performance is generally viewed as shameful by United States believers after they deprived Don Revie’s team of the trophy single-handedly.

45 years later, Jones has emerged as an unlikely supporter of this European claim on Elland Road.

When Jones found the predictable lines on Marcelo Bielsa’s side as the best in the league, he also said that visiting the European Champion was the big vision when he first came to Luton in 2016.

The hatters are in second place in the championship, but in brilliant form. Once beaten in the last eight, they head to West Yorkshire after defeating Swansea City.

“I must [repeat the effort at Swansea], but it’s far better if you won Elland Road, ”he told Luton’s official website.

“You go to Elland Road on the back of two negative results and suddenly fatigue creeps in, suddenly the ball is a little less round, suddenly Leeds gets stronger.

“That is not the case now. We are in a good position, in good shape. Leeds is the most difficult place in the championship.

“I don’t know how they got along today, I don’t know where they are or what people think, but for me they are the most difficult side to play against.

“It will be a great test, but what a wonderful test. When I came here, 18th in the second division, we said we would be a championship team.

“It was against European champions Leeds United and that’s great for us.”
