Ducati Explains Why Dovizioso Was Allowed To Join Motocross Races

Andrea Dovizioso had an accident when he joined the regional motocross championship. This incident made preparations rider Ducati was staring at MotoGP 2020 actually disturbed.

Accidents experienced by Dovizioso when following the regional motocross championship in Emilia Romagna, Italy. The 34-year-old rider suffered a broken collarbone due to the accident and had to undergo surgery.

Dovizioso is now only about two weeks to recover before the inaugural MotoGP 2020 race at Jerez on July 19. But Ducati Sports Director Paolo Ciabatti indicated that Dovizioso’s injury would not threaten the racer’s participation in the inaugural series.

Ciabatti further explained why Ducati allowed Dovizioso to take part in the motocross race, with all the risks, while MotoGP was close. One is the atmosphere of competition that needs to be felt by the Italian racer.

“Even though we know that motocross is an activity that presents a number of risks, we still allow Andrea to participate in this regional race, because he has explained to us that he needs to rediscover the stimulus and sensation that can only be obtained from real competition,” he was quoted as saying Crash.

“On the other hand, motocross is also a discipline that is widely used by MotoGP riders to practice on a regular basis. So, in the end, we must be relieved that the injury has no serious consequences and that Andrea will be able to participate at the start of the 2020 championship in Jerez,” he said.
