There was a corona fall on the Stelvio Pass.

These days, parts of the Italian national ski team are doing their training on the Stelvio Pass. Now there is a corona alarm on the glacier: One of the participants was tested positive.

The Italian winter sports association announced on Sunday that a national team coach who had only recently come to the Stelvio Pass has had a positive test. As the Gazzetta dello Sport reported, it should be a coach of the slalom women. When he arrived at the Stelvio Pass he had mild flu-like symptoms, after which he underwent a serological test in Sondrio, the result of which was positive. The trainer is fine.

The Hotel Livrio, where the ski entourage is staying these days, was immediately closed off, no one is allowed to leave the building. Anyone who is in it will have to undergo a corona test and is initially in isolation. Only then is it decided how to proceed. In total there are around 160 people in the hotel, i.e. athletes, trainers, service men and other employees of the association.

South Tyroleans are also on the Stelvio Pass

These days, the women’s World Cup team has been training on the Stelvio Pass. In addition to the stars such as Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone, South Tyrolean Nicol Delago, Nadia Delago and Verena Gasslitter were also called up. In addition, the European Cup men – with Florian Schieder and Tobias Kastlunger – and the men’s juniors on the glacier have honed their shape. The trainings were logically suspended until further notice. Now it is time for the ski aces to wait for the test results.
