Collarbone fracture for Dovizioso – Fil Info – Moto

Italian Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso has fractured his left collarbone and is about to undergo surgery, his team said Sunday, three weeks before the start of the MotoGP world championship. “When falling in a motocross race in Faenza (northern Italy, note), Andrea Dovizioso suffered an injury to the left collarbone,” wrote the Ducati team on Twitter. The injury is not specified by Ducati but all the Italian sports media speak of a broken collarbone. The Italian team added that after consultation with the doctors, the pilot had “decided to be operated this evening (Sunday) in Modena in order to be ready for the start of the 2020 MotoGP season”. The world championship, whose calendar has been shortened and deeply altered by the epidemic of new coronavirus, is due to start on July 19 in Jerez de la Frontera, in Spain. Dovizioso, 34, has been racing for Ducati since 2013. In the past three seasons, he has finished vice world champion in MotoGP behind Spaniard Marc Marquez (Honda).
