‘Club Brugge has the ideal replacement for Vormer in mind’

He is not only a monument and still the proud captain, as assist king Ruud Vormer showed last season that he was far from worn out. Nevertheless, the Dutch engine of Club Brugge is getting a bit older, so Vincent Mannaert is carefully working on his successor.

For example, the target is now reportedly aimed at Juninho Bacuna, a 22-year-old Dutchman who currently plays for Huddersfield Town in the English second division and scored six goals and five assists this season. The box-to-box midfielder, which is also known for its rather burly style and was sent off with a red card last weekend, is somewhat reminiscent of Vormer in this way.

That also finds Sports / Football magazine, where Bacuna is considered the ideal man to give the 32-year-old captain a break now and then. Although the quality in the Bruges midfield remains of a high level, the backwash of Hans Vanaken is after all still at the thin side. The arrival of Bacuna could therefore intensify the competition in the ashes, with Mats Rits and Éder Balanta in addition.
