Buyers will take legal action if the Newcastle United takeover bid is rejected by the Premier League

The takeover of Newcastle United has been a major topic in recent months.

Magpies followers are holding their breath after two months ago news of a potential £ 300m deal to buy the club became known.

Amanda Staveley is the figurehead of the Saudi Arabia-backed consortium that is charged with indicting the club. So far, however, there has been no news of a confirmed deal.

A Premier League decision has since been postponed to a 13th week and, according to Chronicle Live’s Lee Ryder, a rejected decision could lead to a legal challenge by the buying party.

When asked whether the Saudi Arabia-based consortium was convinced of a deal, Ryder wrote: “This is the message that comes from sources near you.

“They believe that they have done everything that is required of them and that piracy links have nothing to do with them.

“In their eyes, the deal should have been closed some time ago, but opposition from MPs and Hatice Cengiz, the fiancé of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, has caused the Premier League to react.

“Talk of a project restart that delays the deal was and is over as the top league is back in service and the leaders of the Premier League are perfectly clear about processing this deal either way.

“In terms of an announcement, the Premier League would either leave Ashley or the potential owners to share their news with the world.

“If it was rejected, there could be a legal challenge for those who want to buy Ashley’s club.”
