5 bold predictions for defending the Buffalo Bills in 2020

The upcoming Buffalo Bills season is all about crime. What will Josh Allen look like? Will Stefon Diggs be a hit maker?

But despite all of its recent successes, the Bills defense has to earn its stripes year after year. A top 3 defense is not just given to the team.

It will be a long way to get there, and possibly an AFC East crown. Let’s make a few guesses as to how it could go on.

Here are five bold predictions for Bills defense in 2020:

Levi Wallace starts several games

The No. 2 cornerback job for the Bills will go to someone. This fight in the training camp is particularly emphasized. The seemingly favorite who wins the job is Josh Norman. But we’ll predict something else: incumbent Levi Wallace sees several starts in 2020.

Norman had previously been all-pro with Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott when he was the Panthers defensive coordinator. But Wallace was not too bad himself last season. He defended nine passes and scored his first two career interferences. And while Pro Football Focus isn’t the end, it was the 41st corner in the entire NFL last year. That’s pretty good for a 32 team league.

Does that mean he will beat Norman? Maybe not. But for various reasons, Wallace could make at least several starts. Did Norman lose a step at 32? It was another defense he played with the Redskins in recent seasons, but Norman was put on a bench several times during his stay in Washington. There is also health to consider. Norman was relatively healthy in his career and we never wish to be injured, but age also plays a role.
