At the event dedicated to this event, every visitor had the opportunity to feel the great atmosphere of beach volleyball, take photos and ask for autographs of the biggest domestic stars.

“I grew up as a beach volleyball player right in the sand of Jurmala – my first trainings were right there. We have been driving all over the world for 15 years and the people who travel are able to appreciate our quality sand. For beach volleyball players, sand is the most important and first thing we value. Only then everything else – tour, hotel, organization. Therefore, we already have the most important for the World Cup stage in Jurmala. Jūrmala together with the Latvian Volleyball Federation has already proved that the highest level competitions can be organized. Two years ago, when the European Championship took place in Jūrmala, all participants were already convinced of it, ”says Aleksandrs Samoilovs, one of the main favorites of the tournament.

“We last played in Jurmala 2 years ago in the final of the European Championship. There is a special feeling to return to Jurmala and I hope that we will be able to show their best performance at home. I believe that the support and atmosphere of the audience will help us. For our part, we will do our best to keep Latvians in the tournament until the last day, ”says Jānis Šmēdiņš.

The tournament in Jurmala will take place for 4 days from August 22 to 25. Tickets for the day of the tournament can be purchased starting from 5.00 EUR, but for the main tournament games they cost from 19.00 EUR. As the tournament approaches, their price will increase. “A tournament of this scale and level will be held in Latvia for the first time. It is a great pleasure and honor for us to host the world’s best beach volleyball players in Jurmala for the first time. In order for this tournament to succeed at the highest level and to be able to delight all beach fans from both Latvia and the world, a lot of work will be invested. I invite everyone to attend the tournament games to enjoy the highest level of beach volleyball and the great atmosphere that will prevail in the special tournament arena on Majori beach, ”says Andris Blaka, a member of the board of the Latvian Volleyball Federation.

“One of the main tasks to make it interesting for the audience was to take care of a strong staff. To a large extent, it also worked with the help of our volleyball players, because they are known. Registration is still ongoing, but in addition to our leading beach volleyball pairs, three Brazilian, 3 Dutch and 5 American pairs plan to participate in this tournament. In terms of personalities that we should pay attention to, the world vice-champion Christian Warrenhorn from the Netherlands has applied for the tournament. In turn, the participation of the former Latvian NBA basketball player Chais Badinger in the tournament could arouse the interest of the general public. The format of the competition is similar to all other stages of the World Cup – a qualifying competition and then a main tournament for 32 teams, ”says Kaspars Timermans, Secretary General of the Latvian Volleyball Federation.

“For five years now, since 2014, every year we have been hosting the big volleyball in the sand of Jūrmala with great satisfaction – for the first time in Europe and this year also for the world beach volleyball competition. Every year the level of competition only grows. Jūrmala has proven itself as a successful organizer of large events and has strengthened its position on the map of European beach volleyball cities. It must be said that this is largely the merit of our athletes. Thanks to their success, beach volleyball has become quite popular, and such a tournament is possible not only in Jurmala, but also in Latvia, ”says Edgars Stobovs, Executive Director of Jurmala City Council.

“We have been supporting important sports events in Latvia for many years. We are also together with beach volleyball at the moment. We are really pleased that a world-class tournament has reached Latvia. We see that this is a good starting point for the whole sport. In construction, a building can be built with proper work. The foundations need to be laid. You can create lasting values by going through the whole process. You can also create lasting values in sports with victories by investing in thorough training throughout the season. We wish you success and create these lasting values! ” tells Toms Reiziņš, a member of the board of Velve.

“The time to prepare for the tournament is quite short. SIXT autonomous likes such surprises, so we are friends. We can do things quickly and provide car transport for people who need it. As we know, the train to Jurmala is very good, but by car we can visit not only the sand of Jurmala, but also all other places where you can play beach volleyball. I wish that not only cars, but also balls in the opponent’s field roll well, ”says Arnis Jaunzems, SIXT manager in the Baltic States.
