In the Iberdrola League, the last few seasons are the duels par excellence of the competition that are facing Barça and Atlético de Madrid. Between the two sets six of the last seven championships of league have been distributed: four for the azulgranas (2011/12, 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15) and the last two for the mattresses. Only Athletic Club, who won the league in the 2015/16 season, takes the lead in this dominant match between the Catalans and the Madrid since the respective clubs have opted to professionalize women's football. Today at the Miniestadi (18:00 a.m., GOL TV), Barça and Atlético de Madrid will see their faces. The two sets are separated by four points at the top of the table: the Madrid riders and the azulgranas are second.
For the Catalan team, the game is one match-ball anticipated in the ninth day, as a defeat at the Miniestadi would mean that Atlético would have escaped from seven points to the standings. A distance that would make the League a chimera for Barça, considering that, in the last two leagues, the mat matcher only yielded a defeat. It was the last course, when they fell 0-1 in the Madrid derby against Rayo Vallecano. This result cut a gust of wind of 44 consecutive games of league without knowing the defeat.
All these precedents invite us to think that everything that is not added against Atlético de Madrid will complicate things to a Barça who wants to return to La Liga after three seasons without winning the competition. But coach Blair, Fran Sánchez, wants to put pressure on his players. "Obviously it is an important game because we play against the leader, but not much less an end. Seven points would be a great distance, but we do not think about it, we think to win the three points, "says the Barcelona coach. "After this game the world will not end, all the games are worth three points and this is one more match. There are 21 days left, it must be followed and above all to arrive well in May, "says captain of the team, Vicky Losada. But the midfielder does not deny the magnitude of the confrontation: "It's a very nice game, it's the classic of the Women's League, so we'll go to them all."
The hobby, capital element
The Barça captain and his coach both agree on the importance of the fans coming to the Miniestadi. "Seeing the Mini with more people than usual will be an added motivation," Sánchez says. "It is always good that people come, they cheer up, we need their support. When we completed the Mini the team responded very well, "recalls Losada.
Barça has sold more than 6,000 tickets, between partners, fans and club commitments. Good entry will be key to the Mini, which has the record of attendance at a Barça women's match with 10,352 spectators. The figure corresponds to the one-legged duel of the UEFA Women's Champions League semi-finals that the Blaugrana team lost (1-3) in April 2017.
In spite of not being a duel of Champions, Barça-Atlético is a good reclamation to attend the Miniestadi, since it is a duel of maximum equality: except for the Copa matches, the last three games between the two Sets have ended with a tie for the minimum (1-1). In today's match, the mattresses arrive full of victories in the league (8 of 8), and Barça have yielded two draws to zero against Valencia and Levante.
Jennifer Hermoso, low sensitive
A muscular injury will deprive Jennifer Hermoso, the top goalscorer for Atlético (8 goals), to meet with his former teammates, such as Alexia Putellas, the best artilleryman in Barça (5 goals). Who will return to the Mini is Olga García, the third player who, a couple of seasons, formed a devastating Barça trident with Hermoso and Putellas. Former players today rivals for 90 minutes that can decide the League.
