The serious crisis of FC Schalke, however, did not end. In the 0: 2 against VfL Wolfsburg, for which Xaver Schlager scored a goal, the Royal Blues remained without a win in the 24th league game in a row and are still on a relegation zone. Tasmania Berlin’s negative record from 1965 and 1966 with 31 winless games en suite is shaking.
Borussia Mönchengladbach again gave away a win in the final minutes in the 1-1 draw against FC Augsburg. And the CoV-plagued TSG Hoffenheim, for which Christoph Baumgartner scored again, came to a spectacular 3: 3 against VfB Stuttgart despite the failure of seven players who tested positive.
Turbulent matchday with three ÖFB goal scorers
Since the 0-0 draw on September 11, 2010, Bremen had lost nine times with a total of 43 goals conceded in the Munich arena. This time Werder withstood the pressure from Bayern (with David Alaba). Maximilian Eggestein even gave the guests the lead shortly before the break (45th). Kingsley Coman only managed to equalize (62nd) for the clearly favored series champions.
Bayer goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky scored an own goal in Bielefeld for all of the annual reviews. After a back pass from Daley Sinkgraven, the Finn hit under the ball and equalized the promoted team (47th). Leon Bailey had previously put Leverkusen in the lead (27th). Shortly before the end, the substitute Dragovic Leverkusen gave the fifth win in a row in the 88th minute. Leverkusen is thus in the longest successful streak for almost five years.
After two draws and progressing in the DFB Cup, Schalke suffered another setback. Wout Weghorst (3rd) and the strong playing ÖFB legionnaire Schlager (24th) ensured clear conditions early on. The Wolfsburg remain undefeated in the league under coach Glasner. Schalke has been waiting for a win since January 17th this year (2-0 against Gladbach).
Drama in Gladbach and Hoffenheim
Gladbach, who had to do without Alassane Plea and Ramy Bensebaini because of positive CoV tests, also experienced a disappointment. Florian Neuhaus (5th) gave the hosts the lead, but Daniel Caligiuri equalized shortly before the end (88th). The guests were outnumbered after Raphael Framberger had seen yellow-red twelve minutes after his substitution (66th).
It went back and forth in Hoffenheim. After Baumgartner (16th) scored the hosts’ opening goal, Nicolas Gonzalez (18th) and Silas Wamangituka (27th) turned the game for VfB. But Hoffenheim struck back through Ryan Sessegnon (48th) and Andrej Kramaric by Foulelfer (71th / after a foul on Florian Grillitsch)). It was the seventh goal of the season by Kramaric, who had to pause three games because of Covid-19. But it was not enough to win because Marc-Oliver Kempf scored in stoppage time for VfB Stuttgart (93rd).
