The Epona Riding Club Siena secured seven podium finishes and claimed sixth place overall among more than sixty equestrian centers at the Coppa Toscana finals in Pontedera, capping a competitive regional circuit that ran from March through the autumn conclusion.
Regional Finals Success at Pontedera
Competing against a field of over sixty equestrian groups from across the region, the Siena-based club advanced nine students to the final weekend of the Coppa Toscana circuit in Pontedera. The collective performance yielded a medal count of three gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal, alongside multiple top-four placements across both pony and horse divisions.
Aurora Varvaglione led the pony team with a pair of victories, taking first place in the 80 category aboard Morena and first place in the 70 category with Pistacchio. Ludovica Patrone added a third gold for the club by winning the 60 category riding Morena. Additional podium success in the pony division came from Aisha Rifino and Briscola, who earned silver in the 50 category, and Ilenia Cosi alongside Tiffy Taff, who also secured a silver medal.
Standout Results in the Horse Division
The club’s representation in the horse events produced further medals and high placings under the supervision of the training staff. Camilla Tommasini and Pamir captured the silver medal in the 80 Senior category, while Lara Del Plato and Capitano took third place to claim bronze in the 70 division.
Near-podium finishes rounded out the weekend for the youth delegation. Emma Pratesi and Palynuro by Night finished fourth in the 80 Junior category, matching the fourth-place result achieved by Isabella Presutto and Pamir. Martina Petreni and Dea also delivered competitive performances despite not competing in every leg of the regular season circuit.
School-Owned Mounts and Technical Direction
All competing riders achieved their results aboard horses and ponies owned directly by the riding school, highlighting the facility’s ongoing animal preparation and student training framework. The instruction and technical oversight are directed by Bianca Favero, founder of the center in 2010 when operations began in Murlo as Centro Equestre Viamaggio prior to relocating to La Selvaccia, and Marco Calcagno, who joined as technical director and instructor in 2023 following training experiences in France, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Beyond the Coppa Toscana results, Giuditta Chiariello secured qualification for the Progetto Sport final in Cattolica while riding Cassandra, adding another milestone to the club’s competitive calendar.
Club Celebration at La Selvaccia
The Epona Riding Club scheduled a gathering for families, students, and supporters at its La Selvaccia facility to mark the conclusion of the season, shifting focus from competition standings to community recognition for the riders and horses.
