Italy topped the medal table at the World Field Archery Championships in Yankton, South Dakota, capturing seven team podium finishes and closing the international tournament with 16 total medals.

The Italian squad finished the global competition with seven gold medals, five silver medals, and four bronze medals. The United States followed closely in the standings with six golds, eight silvers, and one bronze. Great Britain rounded out the top three nations with three gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze.
This team-level success followed individual titles secured earlier in the week by archers such as Eleonora Strobbe and Giuseppe Seimandi in the traditional barebow classes, alongside junior gold medals from Giulia Grezzani and junior mixed team victories.
Team Finals and Shoot-Off Drama
The final day of competition delivered high-stakes drama on the field, particularly in the barebow and compound divisions. The senior men’s team—consisting of Simone Barbieri, Matteo Borsani, and Michea Godano—came within a single point of the gold medal. After tying the United States 53-53, the Italian trio dropped the ensuing shoot-off 17-14, settling for the silver medal after defeating France 62-59 in the semifinals.
The senior women’s team of Roberta Di Francesco, Giulia Di Nardo, and Eleonora Strobbe also secured a silver medal. The Italian trio fell 58-55 to the United States in the gold-medal match, having advanced past Germany 58-52 in the semifinal round.
In the junior ranks, the women’s team composed of Emma Di Vita, Giulia Grezzani, and Giorgia Montaldi matched the senior squad’s result. They pushed the United States to a shoot-off after a 49-49 tie before losing 15-13. Meanwhile, the junior men’s team of Aloisi, Locchi, and Azzoni bounced back from a 64-49 semifinal defeat to Great Britain by edging out the United States 51-50 to claim the bronze medal.
Mixed Team Victories and Podiums
Mixed team competition yielded several additional medals for the delegation. In the recurve division, Matteo Borsani and Roberta Di Francesco defeated Germany 79-71 in the semifinals before dropping a narrow 78-77 decision to Australia in the final.
The compound mixed team of Giulia Di Nardo and Michea Godano also claimed silver. Following a 92-85 semifinal victory against Germany, they fell 91-87 to the host nation.
Gold returned to the Italian camp through the barebow mixed team of Cinzia Noziglia and Alessandro Uggeri, who defeated Australia 76-72 before outshooting Germany 67-56 for the title. Additional junior gold medals arrived via the compound pair of Aloisi and Montaldi—who defeated Great Britain 94-85 and the United States 87-84—and the barebow junior tandem of Grezzani and Locchi, who secured a 69-62 victory over the United States.
