Dan Evans ends the 12 month collaboration with his trainer

World number 35 Daniel Evans has announced that he and his trainer Mark Hilton have agreed to end their collaboration. The British tennis player ended his losing streak at the European Open in Antwerp on Tuesday, but then announced the separation with his coach Hilton.

Evans, who reached a career high of 28th in the world earlier this year just before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, worked with Hilton for 12 months. The 30-year-old British man was grateful to Hilton for his efforts over the past 12 months and added that he was looking forward to his next chapter.

“I would like to send a quick message to let you know that Mark Hilton and I have decided to end our professional relationship. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark for his work and efforts over the past twelve months, and we’re both excited to see what’s next for each of our respective careers, “Evans said in a statement released via Sky Sports.

Evans and Hilton are proud of the work they do together

Coach Hilton was pleased with the work he’d done with Evans and said they were both “very proud” of the work they’d done together.

Prior to accepting Evans’ coaching offer, Hilton also coached 2018 Australian Open semi-finalist Kyle Edmund and world number 200 Liam Broady. Hilton will now work for the London Tennis Association again.

“After discussing our plans for 2021, Dan and I made the mutual decision to part ways in late November. We are both very proud of our collaboration this year, which has helped Dan reach a career high of 28th, seventh To score wins over the top 20 players and make his first ATP 500 semi-finals, “said Hilton.

“I look forward to reinvesting the experience I have gained over the past three years at the highest levels of the ATP Tour for our British players and coaches in the LTA men’s tennis team.”

Evans’ run of five straight defeats ended Tuesday after beating Italian qualifier Salvatore Caruso 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the Antwerp first round. Evans broke Caruso three times and lost his serve once in the first set to easily claim the first set.

Caruso claimed the only break of the second set to force a third set but couldn’t finish a comeback as Evans won the third set to advance to the Antwerp round of 16.
