J & T Banka Ostrava Open Press Conference
The 25-year-old recognized the importance of her coach’s advice and was generally happy with her game. “I think I started very well, knew exactly what to do and did it well. I mean that’s what [my coach] Tom [Hill] really said, “I have nothing to say about this game.” Maybe some moments of this game could have been better. But in general I think my serve, my return, my basic strokes from the baseline have been quite successful. I was super solid. “
“When I started my career, people told me I couldn’t play inside. I think it was a big mistake listening to them. Now I’ve proven myself: I’ve reached a semi-finals indoors, I’ve beaten very good indoor players in St. Petersburg and here [J&T Banka Ostrava Open]… I developed my game so that I can now be dangerous indoors too. My serve is big and I play a little more aggressively. I’m super happy, I’ve proven the opposite to these people, ”she continued.
In the quarter-finals, Sakkari will meet the winner between Ons Jabeur or wildcard Jelana Ostapenko.
