This Monday, RFC Liège formalized the signing of Victor Corneillie, 28-year-old French central defender, from Olympic Charleroi. In a video shared on the club’s social networks, he spoke for the first time in his new colors.
First of all, time for the presentation: “My name is Victor Corneillie, I am a central defender. I come from Olympic Charleroi, where I played after passing through RAAL La Louvière last year.”
“As a player, I am someone who never gives up on the pitch, who pushes himself to the limit, who gives everything from the first to the last minute and who does everything to win matches,” he continues.
He also spoke about his feelings upon arriving at Rocourt: “Very, very good feeling since my arrival. I’m not surprised, because from the outside, I already saw how the group was living and the mentality of the players. I was perfectly welcomed, but as I say, I was not surprised.”
The Frenchman also knows one of his new teammates at RFC Liège well: “I played with Fadel (Gobitaka) for two years at La Louvière. We experienced two climbs together, one in D1B and one in D1A. So obviously, he’s the player I know best here. And for the others, I’ve often played against them in recent years, so I know them too.”
Already in the squad this Friday?
Victor Corneillie already knows what to expect in terms of the atmosphere: “It’s great. Every time I came here, the stadium, especially the stand behind the goal, was full. We really feel that it pushes the players to go all out to get the three points.”
