As the Champions League play-off between Club Brugge and Atlético Madrid approaches, the Colchoneros have strengthened themselves with a new striker: Ademola Lookman signs in the Spanish capital from Atalanta.
The Nigerian has signed a contract until June 2030. He leaves Italy after joining Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from RB Leipzig.
Under the colors of Atalanta, Ademola Lookman played a total of 137 matches. He was decisive on 82 occasions (55 goals and 27 assists). Recently summoned to play in the CAN, the striker has had little playing time with the Italian club in recent weeks. His last appearance dates back to January 25 against Parma, where he came on 11 minutes from time.
Club Brugge will face Atlético Madrid in a home-and-away duel in the Champions League play-offs. The first leg will take place at the Jan Breydel stadium on February 18, while the return is scheduled for the following week, on February 24, at the Metropolitano.

Ademola Lookman knows Club Brugge well
Playing against Club Brugge will bring back bad memories for the Nigerian. Indeed, last season, the Bergamasques were eliminated at this stage of the competition by the Blauw en Zwart. The player was even the victim of a tackle from his coach at the time, Gian Piero Gasperini.
Ademola Lookman was absent from the first leg due to a knee injury. On the return leg, when his team was trailing 0-3, he came on at the start of the second half, allowing Atalanta to reduce the gap to 1-3 from the start, but he then missed the penalty which could have allowed his team to make it 2-3.
Since this match, Club Brugge has faced Atalanta once again in the Champions League, it was last September. And it went much less well for Bruges, since they lost 2-1. Lookman was also a starter.
