Lorenzo Musetti will miss the upcoming tournaments in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. The Italian announced this via Instagram.

“After receiving the results of my medical examinations and tests, I and my team had to make the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming tournaments in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. My focus is now on my rehabilitation so that I can return to the court. Thanks to everyone for the support, I hope to see you again soon.”

Musetti was injured in the third round of his quarter-final match at the Australian Open against eventual finalist Novak Djokovic – after he had won the first two sets and put in a strong performance. Musetti injured his right thigh.

Djokovic explained afterwards that he had been pure luck that day – Musetti was clearly the better player.

The fifth in the world rankings from Italy will try to be fit again for the “Sunshine Double”: the Masters tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami.
