Sports are important. It keeps you healthy and strong and is good for social contacts. Especially if you play sports in a club. Boxtel has many sports clubs.
As a spectator, I regularly visit ODC and MEP, where my children play sports. And I play badminton myself at BC ’80. In recent seasons I have seen beautiful new artificial grass fields appear and a beautiful new floor and good lighting in the Dommelhal. With thanks to sports councilor Hans Heesen of Combinatie95. As a municipality, we must continue to invest in this, because good sports facilities are the basis for strong and future-proof associations.
The larger associations, such as football and hockey clubs, are the most eye-catching. Combinatie95, of which I am a candidate council member, finds these large associations very important and is happy to continue to support them with, for example, good accommodations.
But there are also many smaller sports clubs in our municipality. These clubs also offer exercise and fun to many residents.
However, small associations often have more difficulty finding active and competent volunteers due to their limited number of members. They are often completely dependent on the offer from the municipality for suitable and safe accommodations. I have experienced this in practice during my six years as chairman of BC ’80. Nice accommodation and active volunteers are indispensable.
The municipality can also make extra efforts for smaller associations by arranging good facilities, helping with the organization and allowing them to learn from each other. A nice solution for clubs in the village centers is an omni association. Combinatie95 wants the municipality to investigate this and, where possible, support it.
Finally, Combinatie95 wants to build a new sports hall in Boxtel in the coming period. To offer all clubs that play sports indoors accommodation that fully meets the requirements of today. Where you as an association can also welcome visiting competition teams. I think that, after the renovation of a number of outdoor sports fields, we will also make many residents who exercise indoors very happy.
Choose to invest in sport for health, quality of life and our local community.

What is the Political Gallery?
In the run-up to the municipal elections of March 18, Brabant Center offers all parties a platform in the newspaper: the Political Tribune. What are the rules?
The name already gives it away a bit: the temporary section is a variant of the well-known and popular readers’ section Vrije Tribune from Brabants Centrum. Exactly the same guidelines apply to the Political Tribune: a maximum of 350 words per entry per week. The content is the responsibility of the writer, the editors never take a position on this. Mentioning the name and party is mandatory. Entries may be refused, for example in the event of unfair treatment. Normally we also refuse advertising, but due to the nature and reason of the section, we refrain from doing so in the case of the Political Tribune.
