Ex-OL Striker: Deal Confirmed

A Brazilian club and West Ham United have reportedly reached an agreement for a former Olympique Lyonnais striker.

Lucas Paquetá (28 years old) will join Flamengo, his former club. The current sixth in the Brazilian championship (Serie A) will pay a record sum for the ex-OL player.

Paquetá has come a long way since Flamengo

In his native country, a five-year contract awaits him with his former club, where Paquetá studied at the training center. This allowed him to transfer to AC Milan in 2019, for a fee of 38.4 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.

That’s more than €3 million less than Flamengo currently pays West Ham, according to Fabrizio Romano. However, with his playing time at Milan limited, Paquetá left Italy after a year and a half, signing for Lyon for €23 million. He established himself as a holder.

In 2022, he signed for West Ham United, who paid nearly 43 million euros to secure the services of the midfielder.

Paquetá paid at a record price

By bringing back Paquetá for 42 million euros, Flamengo is making history. The Brazilian club has never paid such a sum for a player.

The current record, set last summer at 22 million euros, is almost half the amount for Paquetá. This amount was paid to Atlético Madrid for Samuel Lino.
