What if Alexis Pinturault finally had the right to one last Olympic chance? This Monday, the French Ski Federation indicated that it had a new place to allocate to one of its athletes for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Earlier, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) had revealed the list of skiers selected for the deadline. Selection which did not include the winner of the 2021 World Cup.
“Following a reallocation, France has just obtained an additional quota in men’s alpine skiing for the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games,” announced the FFS via a press release. The body specified that the athlete would be chosen “according to the same methods as those put in place by the French Ski Federation (FFS) and the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) for the 7 other athletes already definitively selected”.
Announcement Wednesday
The eighth guest will be announced on the evening of Wednesday January 28. Initially, “Pintu” was not selected among the seven French skiers, the fault of insufficient performances and a limited number of quotas for the French team.
Nils Allègre, Nils Alphand and Maxence Muzaton in speed as well as Steven Amiez, Léo Anguenot, Clément Noël and Paco Rassat for the technical events were preferred. Ultimately, this new spot could potentially benefit him, although other members of the ski team could claim it.
