SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug: Season Kick-Off & New Players

On Saturday, January 10th, the second half of the 2025/26 D Class 1 team championship of the Berlin-Brandenburg Badminton Association began, with a double match day for the SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug team. The many confirmations made it possible to compete with a total of eleven people. Only Lea had to, or rather was allowed to, play on both days.

While it was cold and snowy outside, it was even warmer in the SG BC Tempelhof/Friedenau VI hall. The “Berliners” competed with a “old men’s group” and also only with three men. Due to the omission of the second men’s doubles, the order of play was changed and the Falkensee team got their first point. René delivered a strong start in the third men’s singles and clearly dominated the game. The remaining doubles were played at the same time. Clear communication in the first men’s doubles allowed Tobias and Arne to win a clear two-set victory. Two strong Berliners were waiting in the women’s doubles. It was a game at a very high level, which was unfortunately lost in two sets in the end – 3-1 for the SVFF.
In the second men’s singles, Laurenz unfortunately couldn’t find the right way to counter his opponent, who was able to counterattack well in every situation, so this game had to be given up 3-2.
The first men’s singles was supposed to be the closest game of the day. Unfortunately, the tried and tested “smash through” wasn’t enough against the opponent’s strong defense. Tobias changed his game accordingly and was able to win the game in the third set thanks to his staying power.
In the women’s singles, the opponent played very powerfully and demonstrated with very precise balls why they have remained unbeaten so far. Unfortunately, Lea couldn’t break this pattern either, so she had to lose the game in two sets. Accordingly, with the score at 4:3, it came down to the mixed doubles. Mireille and Arne delivered a good performance and were able to parry the precise balls of the Berlin pairing well and were able to regularly outplay the opposing mixed team.
Overall, the games were very fair and with the victory in the mixed doubles, the overall result was a 5:3 victory for the SVFF. Due to the draw in the parallel game between RSV Eintracht and BG Neukölln, the lead in the table was extended further.

On Sunday we went to Brandenburg an der Havel, where the game against FSV Viktoria Brandenburg was scheduled. The game was played on two fields.
Lea and Sophie started in the women’s doubles and Jonas and Tim in the first men’s doubles. In the women’s doubles, the first set went into extra time, which unfortunately ultimately went to the Brandenburg women with a score of 22:20. In the second set, our ladies were unfortunately unable to match the performance of the first set and the point remained in Brandenburg. The first men’s doubles match was clearly won in two sets. The good teamwork was reflected in well-prepared rallies, which were ultimately rewarded with points for our men.
In the second men’s doubles, Dennis and Frank unfortunately didn’t get into the game so well and the first set had to be clearly lost. With the change of sides, the team changed and played more of their own game, which led to the deserved equalizer. In the third set, the good performance of the second set was continued and the game was won. With this win it was 2-1 for the SVFF. At the same time, Sophie started with the first women’s singles. Sophie did a good job and the match plan worked. The first set was won 22:20. For the second set, the opponent changed her style of play. It remained an exciting game, in which Sophie unfortunately had to give up the victory to Brandenburg after three sets. Dennis played the first men’s singles against a Brandenburg player who was not there in the first leg. They were able to play their own game confidently, which ultimately led to a clear win in two sets for Dennis. In the third men’s singles, Frank played against one of the two doubles opponents. Frank had repeatedly played good balls, but in the end the game went to Brandenburg. The last game of the day was the mixed doubles. Lea and Tim played here. After initial difficulties at the start, the Falkenseer Mixed clearly won the first set. The second set went into extra time, which unfortunately had to be given away in the end. It was also close in the decisive third set. In the end, this went to Brandenburg through an edge hit. So in the end there was a draw (4:4).

Overall, the SVFF team remains undefeated in first place in the table. It continues on Sunday, January 18th, at home at 10:30 a.m., in the hall of the Vicco-von-Bülow-Gymnasium, against the third team from Köpenicker BC. Spectators and supporters are warmly welcome.
