Roebers Wins European Blitz Chess | First Dutch Champion

Eline Roebers has become European blitz chess champion. In Monaco, 19-year-old Roebers defeated the Georgian Bella Chotenashvili in the last round of the speed chess variant. Both chess players ended up with 10 points (out of 13 games), but based on mutual results the European Championship title went to Roebers.

In the decisive game against Khotenashvili (with black), the Georgian only had to draw. Chotenashvili blundered on the 40th move, from which Roebers did not take full advantage, and seemed to be on his way to the necessary half point. But Roebers struck in the endgame.
