Rennes escapes the Chantilly trap and moves into 8th
Trailing 1-0, Rennes overturned the match to qualify for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France by dominating Chantilly 3-1, a National 2 club (fourth division), Sunday at the Pierre-Brisson stadium in Beauvais (Oise).
The Rennais, sixth in Ligue 1, were surprised at the end of the first period by a goal from Evens Joseph (43rd). After a red card inflicted on Chantilly, Habib Beye’s men turned the match around in a few minutes, with two goals from Quentin Merlin (70th) and Mousa Al-Tamari (71st), before Elias Legendre (78th) sealed the outcome of the match.

Nice qualifies for the eighth by beating Nantes
Nice qualified for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France by winning on penalties in Nantes (1-1, 5-3 on the tabs) on Sunday.
Nice, who missed a penalty by Elye Wahi (66th), opened the scoring through Sofiane Diop in the 25th minute before seeing the Canaries equalize on a deflected shot from Herba Guirassy, who deceived Maxime Dupé (1-1, 52nd). But during the penalty shootout, Dupé diverted Youssef El-Arabi’s second attempt, while all his teammates scored.
Montpellier sort Metz
Montpellier, relegated to Ligue 2 this season, went to correct (4-0) Metz, the red lantern of Ligue 1, in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, Sunday at the Saint-Symphorien stadium.
Whistled by their public, the Messins were overwhelmed by the Hérault assaults concluded by Téji Savanier on penalty (7th), Yanis Issoufou (21st), Enzo Tchato (46th) and Nicolas Pays (65th).
Le Mans and Nancy also went to penalties. The session turned in favor of Manceaux (0-0, 4-1 tab).
