There are those who celebrate, those who are satisfied with a draw and those who experience moments of great worry, as in the case of FIBathe Italian Badminton Federationwhich is facing the possibility of being absorbed by another federation, such as that of Tennis or of Table tennis. This scenario emerges following the approval by the Board of Directors of Sport and Healthwhich established the ordinary contributions for the 2026amounting to a total of 344.4 million euros.
Increases for national sports federations
In the context of 58 National Sports Federations e Discipline Sportive Associateben 55 have seen an increase, albeit modest, in funding. There Italian Football Federation confirms itself in first place in the ranking, receiving 35.258.491 eurowith an increase of 0,06% compared to 2025. In second place is the Italian Swimming Federationwith a contribution from 18.620.135 eurowhich marks an increase of 1.780.646 euroequal to 10,57%. The Italian Volleyball Federation occupies third place, with 17.864.540 euroand a growth of 4,59%. They follow the Italian Tennis and Padel Federationwhich he will receive 16.130.251 euro (+15%), and the Italian Athletics Federationwith a sum of 14.929.774 euroincreasing by 0,27%. Finally, the Italian Winter Sports Federation will have available 12.568.867 eurowith an increase of 20.547 euro (+0,16%). Military and civilian sports groups, however, will benefit from an increase in 3,38%with significant contributions to various law enforcement agencies.
The self-financing mechanism and its impact
The resources allocated to sports system I’m growing thanks to a self-financing mechanism which, from 2019generated an overall increase of 25%despite the difficulties associated with pandemic. Federations in difficulty and future prospects

There Italian Badminton Federation will suffer a cut of 12,21% (-327.672 euro), which could lead to considering a merger of its Olympic structure within another discipline, such as tennis or the table tennis. Also the pentathloncurrently under commissionerate, faces a drastic decline in 20% (-982.468 euro), while the Italian Motorboating Federation sees a reduction in the 20%corresponding to –403.121 euro. These data clearly highlight the importance of the grant award criteria established by Sports and Health.
Sports financing objectives and new initiatives
The self-financing system of sport has well-defined objectives, which influence government funding. These include promoting the growth of sports movementmeasured by the number of citizens involved in physical activity, the recognition of sporting merit and the ability to inspire new generations of athletes. Furthermore, the aim is to optimize the use of public resourcesconcentrating funds on the development of sporting activity and maximizing the productivity of available resources, while ensuring the sustainability of sports system.
Soon, a new game is expected to be introduced, called ‘Win for Italia Team‘, which will allocate part of the resources to Italian National Olympic Committee to finance the Olympic projects ofItalia Team. This provision, expected following a reform package presented in Budget commission al Senatewill be regulated byCustoms and Monopolies Agency. The game, with a prize money of the 65% of the collection, represents an opportunity to further support the Italian sporting world.
