Karl-Anthony Towns All-Star Case: Mike Brown’s Take

Mike Brown never hesitates to promote his players. Already particularly active in the campaign for the MVP of Jalen Brunsonthe coach explains that there is, according to him, “no hesitation” to have regarding Karl-Anthony Towns: the interior is an obvious All-Star in his eyes.

His reasoning is encrypted. “KAT is turning double-double. He is above 20 points per game and above 10 rebounds »he recalls. And the coach drives the point home with collective logic: “If you’re a Top 3 team in your conference and you’re the second-leading scorer — and the best rebounder — you’re an All-Star. There is no doubt. The only question is: Is he First, Second or Third Team All-NBA? »

A statement which also marks, as Brian Windhorst of ESPN notes, the improvement in the relationship between Mike Brown and Karl-Anthony Towns, the latter having had to get used to a new role this season.

“KAT” thus has fewer guaranteed shots this season, and Tom Thibodeau’s successor asks him more to do the dirty work, which also causes him to take a lot of quick mistakes. But the goal for the Knicks (23-10) is to have a more flexible rotation, and thus more options for major end-of-season deadlines.

Note also that Karl-Anthony Towns explained that he of course hoped to be an All-Star, and that if that were the case, he would like to join the “Rest of the World” team as a representative of the Dominican Republic.
