Chilean Archer Andrés Gallardo Secures Three Medals
Chilean archer Andrés Gallardo returned home with a trio of medals after a standout performance abroad. Gallardo captured bronze medals in both the men’s team and mixed team events, while also finishing third in the individual classification.
Training Grounds and Municipal Support
Following his success abroad, Gallardo credited his grueling training schedule at the Estadio Carlos Dittborn for helping him secure a podium finish. The venue, managed by the Municipality of Arica, accommodated the athlete’s demanding double-session training regimen as he builds toward the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
“I want to thank the Municipality of Arica for the space I have to train; without the space that was granted to me, I would not have been able to prepare for these games and obtain the results that I obtained,” Gallardo said.
Civic Recognition and Future Outlook
Arica Mayor Orlando Vargas formally congratulated the Olympian on behalf of the local community, emphasizing the city’s ongoing commitment to elite athletes representing the country on the international stage. Municipal officials confirmed that support for Gallardo will continue through his upcoming competitive slate.
“For Arica, it is a pride to have an elite athlete like Andrés,” Vargas stated. “Therefore, as a municipality, we will continue supporting him in each of the challenges he has to face in representation of our country.”
Road to the National Finals
Gallardo’s next major test is scheduled for December 2026, when he will represent Arica at the grand archery final in Santiago. The appearance marks another milestone for the Olympian, who previously represented Chile at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as he continues his multi-year cycle toward Los Angeles 2028.
