Judo Classes and Self-Defense: New Season Underway in Victor-Hugo Room

Children and adults in Bordères-sur-l’Échez have returned to the tatami for the new martial arts season, with registration still open at the local facility on Rue Victor-Hugo. Classes cover multiple age brackets and disciplines, ranging from early childhood motor-skills development to adult self-defense training.

Classes Resume at Former School Facility on Rue Victor-Hugo

The martial arts season is officially underway at the local judo hall, situated inside a former school building on Rue Victor-Hugo in Bordères-sur-l’Échez. Children returned to the mats alongside instructor Philippe Bodevin. Bodevin leads the sessions alongside “Kodomo” the bear and the official mascot of the local club.

Club organizers maintained a visible presence at the recent community associations forum, generating local interest and new sign-ups. Club administrators confirmed that registration remains open for prospective participants who visit the facility in person.

Structured Programs for Young Children and Adolescents

Training schedules are tailored across different age groups to foster motor coordination and discipline. Early judo sessions cater to children aged 4 to 5 years old. These introductory classes focus on developing physical agility, channeling energy, and teaching mutual respect through playful exercises.

For older youth, the club schedules dedicated sessions throughout the week:

  • Tuesdays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM: Children aged 6 to 8 years.
  • Tuesdays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM: Children aged 9 to 12 years.
  • Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM: Early judo for ages 4 to 5.
  • Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM: Adolescents aged 13, 14, 15, and older.
  • Fridays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM: Children aged 6 to 8 years.
  • Fridays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM: Children aged 9 to 10 years.

Adult Training and Self-Defense Offerings

Beyond youth judo, the club accommodates teenagers and adults looking for physical conditioning or practical defense skills. Sessions covering Taïso, Ju-Jitsu, and self-defense begin at 7:30 PM, welcoming participants aged 13 and older alongside adult men and women.

Club representatives noted that while younger age groups have drawn strong numbers, available slots remain open across several courses. Adult participants can learn defensive techniques and partner control methods while simultaneously improving physical flexibility and muscular strength.
