‘Dorim Reservoir Outdoor Sports Facility’, Dorim-dong’s representative sports space created in 2005
Complete replacement of flooring materials in aging facilities such as running tracks, basketball courts, and badminton courts
[헤럴드경제=박종일 선임기자]Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) completely reorganized the Dorim Reservoir outdoor sports facility (254 Dorim-dong) and reopened it as a comfortable sports space.
Since its construction in 2005, the Dorim Reservoir outdoor sports facility has established itself as a representative recreational sports space in Dorim-dong and has been used by many residents. However, as time passed, the floor became worn and cracked, making it inconvenient to use and causing safety accidents.
The district analyzed that it would be difficult to fundamentally solve the problem of aging facilities through repeated partial repairs, and that maintenance costs would accumulate, which would not only reduce efficiency compared to full-scale improvements but also continue to cause inconvenience to residents.
Accordingly, the district decided to pursue ‘comprehensive facility improvement’ to increase both budget efficiency and residents’ safety from a long-term perspective and began a large-scale reorganization. Since construction began last October, construction has been underway for about two months to remove old facilities and replace them with state-of-the-art sports facilities.
The newly renovated sports facility is approximately 14,000 m2 (approximately 4,200 pyeong) in size. The flooring material was replaced and the circulation and facility layout were completely improved to focus on users so that all residents can use it safely and comfortably.
The main facilities include ▲ elastically paved athletics track (1 side) ▲ basketball court with half court (3 sides) ▲ badminton court (4 sides) ▲ foot volleyball court (1 side) ▲ volleyball court (1 side), etc. The floor of the existing artificial rock wall was also safely maintained.
The Dorim Reservoir outdoor sports facility, which completed construction, has been in operation since the 29th. As it is equipped with the latest sports facilities, the district expects that the convenience and satisfaction of residents will greatly increase.
Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “We have completely reorganized the facility by increasing both safety and convenience so that residents can use it for a long time,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a sports environment that improves the quality of life for residents.”
