[스포츠조선 최만식 기자] Dream players who will lead the future of Korean badminton finished 2025 with a bold convocation training.
The Korea Badminton Association announced on the 1st, “The dream team conducted winter training at Inje Indoor Gymnasium and Inje Multipurpose Gymnasium in Gangwon-do for 20 days from December 12th to 31st with the goal of improving their performance.”
This winter training is a program conducted with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.
Coach Kim Jong-hyuk, as well as coaches Kim Dae-seong, Lee Eun-woo, Park Jun-hee, Kim Young-min, Kang Ga-yeon, Lee Seung-hyeon, Jin Ji-hoon, and Jeong Mi-jin assisted Coach Kim in the training. Including 26 male and female athletes (total of 52) and trainers (Kim Soo-young, Kim Na-yeon, and Lim Gyeong-soo), it was a large event with a total of 64 people, but the three-week schedule was successfully completed.
During the training period, Korea Elementary Badminton Federation President Lee Yong-guk and federation executives visited the training center and had a meaningful time encouraging the aspiring players.
The association explained, “This winter training focused on basic training to improve the performance of aspiring badminton players.” By combining physical training and core training, the focus was on laying the foundation for aspiring players who will lead Korean badminton in the future to grow into national team players.
Additionally, during the training period, a physical strength strengthening program was operated by conducting white sand training at Sokcho Beach.
The athletes who participated in the training did not stop at learning skills. There was also time with an interesting mentor. Shin Baek-cheol, a former member of the national team who won the mixed doubles gold medal at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, visited and had a special meeting, sharing his experience as a player and his know-how in managing the game.
In addition, the association explains that it promotes the formation of correct values and healthy growth in players by combining sexual violence and cyberbullying prevention education with character and psychological education.
The Association said, “The Dream Badminton players successfully completed 20 days of winter training through systematic training and various educational programs. This training is expected to serve as an important stepping stone for the Dream Tree players to improve their skills and grow into future national players.” Reporter Choi Man-sik cms@sportschosun.com
