Gimcheon City (Mayor Bae Nak-ho) announced that the Gimcheon City Hall badminton team achieved excellent results in the ‘2026 Badminton National Team Selection Tournament’ held at the Sangju City Indoor Gymnasium from December 21 to 27 last year and produced a total of four national team members.

As a result of this selection competition, Gimcheon City Hall achieved the feat of having four players wear the Taegeuk symbol this year, following last year. The main characters named on the 2026 national team list are △Men’s doubles players Taebin Yoo and Jo Hyeonwoo, △Women’s singles Park Ga-eun, and △Women’s doubles players Park Seul. With this, Gimcheon City Hall demonstrated its competitiveness in all singles and doubles events, showing off its status as the strongest business team in the country.

Gimcheon Mayor Bae Nak-ho said, “I would like to offer my sincere congratulations and words of encouragement to the players and coaches who have achieved valuable results by unwaveringly focusing on training despite the fierce competition.” He added, “I hope that you will continue to take the lead in promoting national prestige and raising the status of Gimcheon as a sports center with pride as a national representative.”

Meanwhile, the Gimcheon City Hall badminton team has consistently placed in the top ranks at various national competitions, including the National Sports Festival, and is serving as a driving force in the development of local sports. The city plans to further strengthen the team’s competitiveness by establishing a systematic training system and continuously nurturing players.
