Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of former US President John F. Kennedy, has died at the age of 35. Her family announced this in a post on Instagram. “Our beloved Tatiana died this morning. She will always remain in our hearts,” it said.
Schlossberg only made her leukemia public in November. She processed her experiences with the disease in an essay in the US magazine “The New Yorker”, which earned her a lot of respect and sympathy. There she wrote, among other things, that she found out about the illness shortly after the birth of her second child.
In the text, she also criticized her cousin, US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for drastically cutting funding for vaccine research. “Bobby is a known anti-vaxxer,” she wrote. Schlossberg particularly criticized the cut in funding for the development of mRNA vaccines, “a technology that could help against certain types of cancer.” Her cousin “never worked in medicine, public health or government.”
Schlossberg comes from one of the most famous and influential families in the United States. Her mother, Caroline Kennedy, is the eldest and only living child of former US President John F. Kennedy. Her father is the designer Edwin Schlossberg.
