Jack Draper (10th place, Great Britain) announced that he would not participate in next year’s first major tournament, the Australian Open, due to an arm injury.

In a video released on social networking services (SNS) on the 27th, Draper said, “Unfortunately, after discussion with the team, I have decided not to participate in next year’s Australian Open.”

“I am suffering from the most difficult and complex injury of my career,” he explained. “I am in the final stages of rehabilitation, but I decided it would not be a wise decision to go straight to a major tournament where I would play five sets.”

Draper showed great growth in the first half of the 2025 season.

He defeated Holger Rune (Denmark) in the final of the Indian Wells Masters in March to win his first Masters 1000 series, and finished second in the Madrid Masters the following month. In June, the ranking rose to 4th place.

However, the fact that he entered the second half of the tournament without properly treating the bruise on his left upper arm, where he serves, ultimately became a problem. Draper had been feeling pain in the area since the clay court season in April, but his performance was the same so he went on the tour, but eventually withdrew ahead of the second round of the U.S. Open in August. And due to his absence from the Australian Open, Draper’s absence has been extended to five months.
