Seven padel courts, four badminton courts and four squash courts, as well as a restaurant area and a multi-purpose room, at the Technopôle Brest-Iroise. The “Simply the Brest” project (formerly Squash Club de Brest) has just been selected, among six other files, this Tuesday, December 23, 2025, as part of the call for projects launched by Brest Métropole ménagement (BMa) last April in order to “strengthen the sports offering and create a new place to live”. The opening is planned for the second half of 2027.
Padel, squash, badminton…
The new 3,700 m² building, designed by Cap Architecture, is intended to be modular, scalable and ecological. The structure, made of concrete with a wood and polycarbonate envelope, will have a south-facing roof equipped with a photovoltaic power plant, a green roof, a rainwater recovery system and LED lighting.
This project is the culmination of a long-standing commitment to the development of sport in Brest
Beyond padel, squash and badminton, the complex will also offer pickleball, interactive golf, a multipurpose room (dance, yoga, Pilates, fitness, boxing). “This project is the culmination of a long-standing commitment to the development of sport in Brest. We want to offer young people, families and all enthusiasts a space where they can meet, progress and share strong moments, in a spirit of openness and transmission,” says Briag Isambarg, director of the Squash Club de Brest association and one of the project leaders.
A place to live at the technopole
More than just a sports complex, “Simply the Brest” is also a social place, open seven days a week, with outdoor spaces, a restaurant and a games area. “We want to offer all residents an open, friendly and environmentally exemplary place. Our ambition is to promote sport and community living in Brest,” explains Arthur Moineau, manager of Simply the Brest, currently located rue Hoche in Brest with six squash courts.
The project, the implementation of which will therefore be supported by BMa, also aims to provide a new living space for the technology park, which is poorly equipped in this area. “This new program illustrates its new ways of developing economic activity zones into real living spaces, open to the city,” explains Tifenn Quiguer, president of BMa and vice-president of Brest Métropole in charge of town planning, development and housing.
