Former Royal Spanish football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales has
maintained his innocence, asserting he always walks “with his head held high”
becuase he has only acted with integrity and never profited unfairly. In a
recent public appearance in Granada, Rubiales stated that some individuals
are displeased that Jenni Hermoso has not apologized for the events that
transpired.
Rubiales launched his book, ‘Matar a Rubiales’ (Kill Rubiales), in Granada
before a large audience. During the event, he became emotional at times.
This presentation proceeded without incident, a stark contrast to an attack
he experienced the previous day in Madrid.
Addressing the incident in Madrid where eggs were thrown at him, the former
RFEF president clarified that the perpetrator was his uncle, with whom he
had not had a relationship for “ten years.” He expressed hurt that someone
within his family was involved.
A native of the Canary Islands but raised in Granada, Rubiales was emphatic
in his statements, repeatedly claiming that “a narrative was constructed to
destroy Rubiales.”
“I have not kept a single cent that was not mine. Rubiales has not taken
anything. I walk with my head held high as I have only done good; I have
never engaged in corrupt practices,” Rubiales declared, expressing confidence
that the “files” in his legal cases are “getting closer” to resolution.
“The pain my loved ones have suffered is already done. I have faced difficult
times, but I have never been defeated,” Rubiales stated. He reflected that his
primary mistake was “fighting all the unjust wars” rather than exhibiting
more patience.

Regarding the non-consensual kiss of jenni Hermoso during the 2023 Women’s
World Cup celebrations in Australia and New Zealand, for which he was
convicted of sexual assault, Rubiales commented that “there are people who are
angry” that the player has not offered him an apology.
He further alleged,”Irene Paredes said: ‘We are going to get Rubiales and Vilda
will fall.’ And that is what happened.”
Luis Rubiales indicated that he is currently “very focused” on his “projects
and investments” and on moving forward with his “judicial issues.”
