French Leadership Transforms Mexican Archery
Mexican recurve archer Ana Paula Vázquez has acknowledged that the arrival of French coach Marc Dellenbach fundamentally shifted the dynamics of the national team as the squad prepares for the upcoming Olympic cycle culminating at the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Games, according to regional reporting.
The structural changes implemented by the federation are designed to strengthen international preparation and keep Mexico positioned among the world’s elite archery powers.
Demanding Adjustments and Technical Overhauls
According to coverage from Expansion Regional, Vázquez explained that the initial months under Dellenbach proved demanding as the athletes confronted unfamiliar training dynamics, technical modifications, and a distinctly different working philosophy.
The transition required the roster—which typically features standouts Alejandra Valencia, Ángela Ruiz, and Vázquez—to step outside their comfort zones and exercise patience.
Overcoming Communication Hurdles on the Range
The coaching shift also introduced a language barrier during the early stages.
However, Vázquez noted that the hurdle did not disrupt day-to-day communication or halt the group’s competitive progression. Instead, the collective willingness of every team member to embrace the new regimen served as a primary strength during the adjustment period.
Building Toward the Lausanne Pedigree
Dellenbach joined the Mexican archery program specifically to oversee the recurve division through to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Before taking the post with Mexico, the French coach built an extensive international resume, including a tenure as technical director at the World Archery Excellence Centre located in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Targeting Global Podiums Through 2028
Valencia, Ruiz, and Vázquez have previously delivered prominent results on the global stage, and the current technical overhaul aims to solidify that momentum while expanding Mexico’s podium potential moving toward 2028.
