Zverev Defeats Medvedev: Sinner Joins in Semifinals

This Friday, Alexander Zverev defeated Medvedev in three sets to join Sinner in the semi-finals of the Rolex Paris Masters.

Defending champion Alexander Zverev (3rd) qualified for the semi-finals of the Masters 1000 in Paris by beating former world No.1 Daniil Medvedev (currently 13th) in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7/5).

The 28-year-old Hamburger will meet world No.2 Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals, against whom he lost on Sunday in the final in Vienna (3-6, 6-3, 7-5) and whom he has not beaten since 2023.

On the Central, the world No.3 initially displayed a worrying level of play, making a series of unforced errors in the first set. The German found more accuracy in the second set and broke the Russian at the ideal time at 5-3, just before serving to win the set.

After a suspenseful fight in the last set, during which Zverev saved two match points, the German ended up winning after the tie-break. This was the 22nd clash between the two players since their first duel in 2016. They had already met in the final in Paris in 2020, with a victory for Medvedev in three sets (5-7, 6-4, 6-1).
